The U.S. EPA Enhancing State and Tribal Wetland Program (ESTP) is conducting a series of five workshops to foster outreach on the Justice40 Initiative and possible updates to the Wetland Program Development Grants (WPDGs). The training series is for States and Territories interested in learning more about Justice40 and EPA’s Wetland Program Development Grants.

Introduction to Justice40 and the Wetland Program Development Grants: EJScreen and CEJST Tools
Learn about Justice40, including the background, definition, tools, and metrics. Hear about recent updates to the Wetland Program Development Grants (WPDGs) and the Core Element Framework (CEF). Explore additional updates, including preliminary findings from the National Association of Wetland Managers. Participate in demonstrations of EPA’s EJScreen and the Council on Environmental Quality’s Climate and Economic Justice Screening Tool (CEJST). Learn how these tools can be used to support State and Territory programs.

Benefits Methodology and Metrics
Review the current methodology being used to demonstrate benefits and discuss other proposed methods and metrics that may be used in grant reporting under the Justice40 Initiative.

Core Element Framework (CEF) Activities and Outcomes Supporting J40
Review and discuss the potential types of activities that can be provided through the CEF for States and Territories.
Tue. May 23: 2 pm Eastern (1.5 hours)
Communicating Accomplishments
Discuss other potential CEF updates to advance State and Territory wetland programs and how EPA can support technical transfer and communicate accomplishments.
Tue. June 6: 2 pm Eastern (2 hours)
EPA Summary of Findings and Recommendations
Join a joint session between U.S. EPA Regional ESTP Coordinators, Tribes, States, and Territories to hear EPA provide an overall summary of the findings and recommendations.
