8/30 edit:
Hello ~ thank you for your interest in attending the NARS National 2021 work shop.
The increase in cases of the Covid delta variant have resulted in recent travel restrictions. Given that, we have decided to postpone the NARS National 2021 work shop to early April of 2022, with the hope of holding it in-person and live streamed to a home audience at the same time.
We are currently planning on holding several “pre-workshop” webinar trainings over the winter months leading up to the April 2022 work shop.
Be sure to watch your email for announcements regarding the webinar trainings!
Please note: We want to thank those who applied for travel scholarships. With the event being postponed to April 2022, we plan to re-open the scholarship application process early 2022.
Thank you for your patience. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks again!
Sue

CTIC is coordinating a National Aquatic Resource Surveys (NARS) Workshop under a Cooperative Agreement with EPA’s NARS program. The workshop will be held in Chicago Illinois, November 2-4, 2021. (November 1 and 5 are fly in/fly out days).
NARS is a collaborative program between EPA, states and tribes designed to assess the quality of the nation’s coastal waters, lakes and reservoirs, rivers and streams, and wetlands using a statistical survey design. This workshop will cover topics relevant to all four waterbody types and the NARS program generally. We are working with our state/tribal/EPA Advisory Committee to develop the agenda for the workshop, but in the meantime please see Attachment A for a list of currently planned topic areas. If you have specific training workshops, sessions or talks you would like to see included on the agenda, please let Sue Tull know at tull@ctic.org.
This event is being planned for in-person attendance and will be live-streamed to a home audience for those who cannot travel. This event follows on others hosted by CTIC including a national workshop in Silver Spring, MD in 2017 and one in Denver, CO in 2019.
Registration for the 2021 NARS National Workshop will be open by the end of August and a link to register will be sent out at that time. There is no charge for the workshop, but you must register in order to attend.
Registration for the hotel is open – please visit the link below to make reservations:

When making reservations by phone, please call 800-227-6963 and provide the agent with the above group code.
Travel Scholarships: To support broad state and tribal representation, CTIC is able to provide a limited number of full and partial travel scholarships to attend the workshop. To support as many travel scholarships as possible, we encourage those who can do so to apply for a partial scholarship. Additionally, to ensure we have representation from across the country and across waterbody types, we encourage states or tribes which would like to request scholarships for multiple people to consider how to prioritize those requests.
To apply for a travel scholarship, please visit the link below to complete the online application form by Monday, August 23, 2021.

Travel scholarship award notices will be sent out no later than Tuesday, August 31, 2021.
Completed scholarship acceptance forms are due back to CTIC by Wednesday, September 15, 2021.
If you are selected to receive a travel scholarship: Registration, lodging and travel arrangements will be your responsibility. Scholarship recipients will be reimbursed for eligible expenses upon providing receipts to CTIC post workshop. Full details will be sent to those that are selected.
We look forward to seeing you at the workshop – in person or on-line! If you have any questions, please email Sue Tull at tull@ctic.org.
